Buttock Lift

As we get older, our buttocks may begin to droop and sag like other areas of the body. Fortunately, like these other areas such as the breast and stomach, there are surgical options available for reversing these changes and returning to a tighter and firmer appearance.

A buttock lift can be done by lifting the buttocks, sculpting it with liposuction, enlarging it with implants or fat, or any combination of the three. The type of surgery performed will depend on the new look you desire. Buttock surgeries take into consideration the size, shape, and skin quality of your buttocks, as well as the qualities that you desire after surgery. A lift is most often recommended after a large amount of weight loss, when there may be loose or excess skin. However, buttock lifts are not very common procedures because they leave a scar across the upper buttocks.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Buttock Lift?

The best candidates for a buttock lift are healthy individuals who want to correct loose skin on the buttocks. Buttocks augmentation is recommended for those who are unsatisfied with their buttocks size or shape even after exercise or other non-surgical methods of buttocks enhancement.

Since a buttock lift is a permanent invasive procedure, candidates must be in good physical health so that the surgery is safe for them. This includes not having any medical conditions that could result in slower wound healing. If you have diabetes, anemia, heart disease, or other pre-existing conditions, please consult with Dr. Nagy before considering a buttock lift.

This procedure is recommended for people with realistic goals. The results of a buttock lift will vary from person to person, and it is important to set expectations that will suit your body.

What to Expect from a Buttock Lift

During this specific buttock enhancement procedure, incisions are strategically made to excise surplus skin, lift the buttocks to a more youthful position, and create a firmer appearance. The surgery aims to address issues such as sagging skin due to weight loss, aging, or genetics, providing a more sculpted and defined buttock contour.

Post-surgery, patients might experience temporary bruising, swelling, and mild discomfort. It’s essential to follow post-operative instructions meticulously, which may include wearing compression garments to minimize swelling and promote healing. Patients should refrain from sitting or lying directly on their backsides for an initial recovery period, allowing the surgical area to heal properly.

Your Buttock Lift Consultation

A buttock lift consultation involves an in-depth conversation about your appearance goals. Be ready to provide your complete medical history and medications to help Dr. Nagy determine your eligibility for the procedure. A physical examination will also be conducted.

How to Prepare for a Buttock Lift

For a safe buttock lift procedure, do not take any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications. Avoid drinking alcohol for at least 48 hours to prevent excessive bleeding.

Four to six weeks before your buttock lift, refrain from smoking to promote faster wound healing and prevent complications.

Prepare your sleep area in advance for after the procedure. Make sure to have enough pillows for a more comfortable sleep, and secure compression garments in advance to help reduce swelling during recovery.

Buttock Lift Procedures

The actual procedure is performed as an outpatient surgery and usually takes 2-3 hours. Lift surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia. Most patients can return to work after a week to ten days, but full healing will take several months. The risks of a buttock lift are similar to those of other cosmetic surgeries and may include infection, healing problems or fluid drainage.

Recovery after a Buttock Lift

Recovery time varies from person to person, but most individuals can expect to return to light activities within a few weeks. Strenuous activities and exercises involving the buttocks should be avoided for a more extended period, typically around six weeks. Pain and discomfort are usually managed with prescribed medication and diminish gradually over time.

Cost of a Buttock Lift

The cost of a buttock enhancement procedure depends on several factors. The overall price will be impacted by the complexity of the surgery and any additional procedures performed.
