The Ellacor System utilizing Micro-Coring ™ Technology is a new treatment now available to patients who want to treat moderate to severe wrinkles in the lower and mid-face without surgery or thermal energy. Dr. Michael Nagy at Plastic Surgery of the Face and Body in Wall, NJ is one of the first 20 practices in the country to offer this new micro-coring technology to patients who suffer from moderate to severe wrinkles and are looking for less invasive options than a facelift. The Ellacor System™ is the first device to actually remove skin on the micro-scale, leading to skin rejuvenation and tightening, with the minimization of wrinkles.
This first-of-its kind treatment uses hollow needles to remove micro-cores of skin (essentially microscopic columns of skin), resulting in an improved appearance of wrinkles in the mid to lower face without the evidence of scarring, and with no thermal energy. Due to the incredibly small diameter of the coring needles (which is 0.5mm), no scarring is created during healing. The device moves very precisely across the skins surface, and can cover a 10mm square area in about 3 seconds. This results in an entire treatment being completed in about 30-45 minutes. Dr. Nagy is the best at what he does! He has a wonderful bedside manner and was extremely awesome with all of my questions. How Does Ellacor™ work?
Ellacor uses hollow needles to remove micro-cores of skin, resulting in an improved appearance of wrinkles without evidence of scarring. After the procedure, the skin quickly begins the natural healing process to close the cores. Once healed you’ll have noticeable, natural results-which is desired by most patients.
How is the Ellacor™ system different from other skin rejuvenation or revitalization procedures?
Ellacor™ removes micro-portions of excess skin to achieve an improvement in the appearance of wrinkles, whereas many other skin revitalization devices use heat generated by laser, radio frequency and ultrasound energy to induce intentional thermal injury to the skin.
How many treatments will I need?
As every patient has different needs, please speak with your provider to determine the treatment plan that is right for you. From the clinical trials, most patients underwent a series of three procedures spaced approximately 30 days apart to achieve optimal results. But again, every patient is different. Even after one treatment some patients will notice a firming and plumping of the skin, with wrinkles beginning to minimize-all as the skin heals.
Is the treatment painful?
You will receive appropriate anesthesia prior to the procedure to make you more comfortable. All anesthesia options will be discussed with you during your consultation.
What are the potential side effects from the Ellacor™ procedure?
Side effects are typically mild, and may include swelling, redness, discomfort, tenderness, and tightness following the procedure. Most side effects resolve themselves within seven days after treatment.
What kind of recovery can I expect from the Ellacor System with Micro-Coring™?
Results from the clinical trials stated that 70% of patients were comfortable with going out in public or back to work three days after treatment, but again there can be variation in this as patients heal and recover at different rates. There can still be some mild to moderate side effects after three days.
Is the Ellacor System with Micro-Coring™ the same as micro-needling?
No, these are two different treatments. Micro-needling uses small needles to injure the tissue, but skin is not removed during this procedure, the tissue is temporarily displaced. Ellacor™ is the first device to actually remove skin on the microscale.
