Exosomes- An Exciting New Advancement in Skin Rejuvenation
Dr. Michael Nagy at Plastic Surgery of the Face & Body in Monmouth County, NJ is now offering one of the latest advances in therapeutic treatments of the skin, exosomes. As advances are made in the world of cellular biology, exosomes have dominated the literature as a new and exciting discovery with far-reaching applications. Before discussing their beneficial contributions to skin treatments in Monmouth County NJ, you first must understand what exosomes are.
Exosomes were originally thought to be the waste products of cells, small nanoparticles eliminated by cells carrying products no longer needed for cell function. That theory has recently been proven to be false. Exosomes are actually small “messengers”, that serve as communicators to other cells, and represent a novel mode of cell communication and contribute to a spectrum of biological processes. It has been found that exosomes carry proteins, growth factors and enzymes. When applied to the skin during a treatment like micro-needling, or after a skin treatment like Morpheus8 or Ellacor, these small powerhouses help cells rapidly recover and deliver growth factors and proteins to enhance the skin’s natural recovery process. The result? More beautiful, glowing healthy skin.
The Science Behind CoolTone®
CoolTone® technology uses electromagnetic currents to achieve MMS (magnetic muscle stimulation). CoolTone® penetrates beyond the fat layer to the muscle, delivering a safe and effective treatment to tone and firm the muscle. The currents stimulate targeted muscles, causing rapid contraction. This mimics a boosted version of natural exercise, increasing muscle mass, muscle strength, and muscle tone.
Benefits of adding exosomes to treatment include:
-
Quicker recovery time
-
Reduced inflammation and redness from your treatment
-
Can be used on all skin types
-
Ramps up the effectiveness of your treatment through the addition of growth factors
-
Decreases hyperpigmentation
-
Hydrates and brightens the skin
-
Stimulates collagen and elastin
-
No blood draw versus PRP
Frequently Asked Questions
Are Exosomes different from PRP?
Yes, Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy uses a concentration of a patient’s own platelets to accelerate the healing of skin and add growth factors to enhance the treatment outcome. PRP is obtained through a blood draw of the patient. Also, as we age our PRP is not as effective as it was when we were younger. Exosomes can be an excellent alternative in that case. Exosomes have been found to carry a much higher percentage of growth factors versus PRP.
Can Exosomes Help Rejuvenate Skin?
Exosomes contain growth factors and other signaling molecules that can stimulate the production of collagen and elastin in the skin. They also help reduce inflammation and promote tissue repair, leading to smoother, more youthful-looking skin.
What Skin Concerns Can Be Helped With The Addition Of Exosomes To A Treatment?
The addition of exosomes to certain treatments can help address multiple skin concerns including fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, acne scarring, pigmentation issues and improve uneven skin tone and texture. They also help reduce inflammation and decrease downtime.
Are There Any Side Effects Associated With Using Exosomes During A Treatment?
There are no known side effects associated with exosomes. Since the exosomes are applied to the skin surface, there is typically no redness or bruising associated with them. In fact, exosomes have been found to assist in speeding up recovery and reducing inflammation.
Plastic Surgery of The Face and Body in Monmouth County, NJ is offering exosomes as an enhancement to micro-needling, Ellacor, Morpheus8 and more. Speak with your provider about this exciting new progressive treatment and how you can attain that youthful looking skin we all desire.
